Competition squad makes spectacular progress

Falcon’s Competition squad competed at two events during a busy June and July.

  1. Tigers Invitational 29th & 30th June @ University of Essex, Colchester &
  2. Falcon invitational Championships 7th July @ Scott Primary School, Bedford.

The Tigers Invitational competition is a prelude to many British International events with all major clubs and officials keen to see and assess the latest moves, tumbles, and partnerships within Great Britain.

Falcon selected 7 partnerships to attend the weekend competition, along with 3 officials to help with the tasks of judging and coaching our gymnasts to ensure every detail was attended to.

The competition was breath-taking in terms of the quality of gymnasts taking part, especially as there was an international element with several European countries represented across the two days. What a great opportunity for Team Falcon to compete alongside such outstanding performers from the UK and Europe!

Saturday saw Gold medals won in Women’s Group Grade 5, Bronze medals in Mixed Pairs Grade 5, and Bronze medals in Youth Women’s Pairs. Congratulations to all of them, fantastic result.

Sunday was a very busy day for Falcon, and we achieved three fourth place results and one seventh place in unbelievably “hotly contested” sections of the competition, which were Women’s Pairs Grade 2, Women’s Group Grade 3, Mixed Paris Youth, and lastly a seventh place Women’s Pairs Grade 4. All gymnasts should be over the moon with these results given the standard of competition and the fact other European countries were taking part – congratulations to them all from everyone at Falcon.

Falcon Invitational Championships is a longstanding competition that Falcon promotes and organises every year. We were overwhelmed with the number of clubs and partnerships wanting to take part in our very friendly Championships. We welcomed 8 clubs from across the Region, with 105 partnerships competing across the day, with a total of 240 gymnast presenting their fantastic skills and tumbles in each routine.

From the doors opening at 7.15am until we finished and locked up at 7.30pm, some 400 spectators visited the competition. The organisation was as slick as any National event, and we thank all the parents and gymnasts who helped us, for their dedication and support in making this event “WOW”.

Falcon entered and presented to the judges 26 partnerships from our three competition squads, who have worked so hard for this event over the last few months. The results achieved by the Falcon squads were beyond the coaches’ expectations and every coach and judge from Falcon is so proud of our gymnasts’ achievements.

The results:

26 Falcon partnerships competed, and we achieved:

  • 6 gold
  • 5 silver
  • 2 bronze
  • 13 just outside medals

Overall, it was a fantastic day, and so enjoyable to see and meet other clubs, gymnasts, and parents from around the East Region.  The sun was shining, and Falcon won a host of medals. A fantastic day was had by all, and Sue Birchall, Managing Director, could not be happier with her team – well done everyone!
