By Carl Denham: Competition Squad Director
As we head into summer, Falcon’s Invitational competition is always an event coaches and gymnasts enjoy. It’s friendly, fun, and, most of all a great opportunity for me to watch our partnerships across the squad perform.
As anticipated, the gym was packed with a full and appreciative audience, who made the day exciting and receptive. It was great to see so many Falcon members present over the weekend, especially those who helped with the organisation. This included: door entry, competition announcer (first ever attempt and Charlie smashed it – well done!), the catering & refreshments team (including the judges’ lunches), the fantastic scorers & sound team, runners & medal bearers, as well as all my back-room staff & coaches ensuring everyone was warmed-up, ready to compete. Lastly, to everyone who helped set up before and clear away after the event – your support and assistance was truly welcomed and did not go unnoticed, especially on a warm summer weekend!
Falcon Gymnastics Club entered 19 partnerships across a range of grades and disciplines, along with a team competition entry. I am sure you will agree with me, the standard of Acrobatics was high, with some outstanding routines from both Falcon and the three other clubs that entered. I know all our coaches were super pleased and proud of every single one of the gymnasts taking part. We showed great sportsman-like behaviour throughout the day, while making new friends from other clubs and helping them all to feel welcomed – well done, every single one of you.
Falcon’s results are as follows:
G1 MP – GOLD 🥇🥇
G2 MP – GOLD 🥇🥇

The lovely aspect of running your own competitions is the ability to add extra items, and as I am responsible for the development of the newly formed Performance Squad, I hope you enjoyed watching their “cross over trampetting†display. Over the next 12 months we hope this squad will compete in the dynamic and exciting area of Team gymnastics, while providing a talent pool for the competition squad.
It just remains for me to thank the judges for their professionalism across a long day and for staying on to help with the presentations. Hannah, our lead judge, along with Liam, mentored several new Falcon judges from within our coaching cohort. Both Catriona and Tia had an amazing day and I’m sure we will see them judge more competitions in the coming months.
It takes many years and lots of hard work to complete at County & Regional events, but if you think this could be you, why not join Falcon’s General Club and take your first steps towards your dream.
