East Regional pre-qualification competition for National Sports Acrobatics Championships.

Report by Carl Denham, Competition Squad Director

Wow, wow, wow!!

12 weeks ago, Falcon identified 16 partnerships from within its Competition squad to start the journey towards reaching their peak performance to compete at the most important event of the year for Falcon.

Winning at this event means your club & gymnasts earn the opportunity to attend the National finals in May, which in turns means the National GB coach will see and review your partnerships. This event is very simple, win and move forward to a National event, and if you don’t you will have to wait another year to hit the National stage. This is a huge opportunity to demonstrate the skills and dedication of our gymnasts, and the professionalism and outstanding knowledge from our Team of coaches. The competition had 80 partnerships all vying for that desired top spot on the podium from all over the region including Kings Lynn, Hertford & Luton to name but a few.

Winning a few gold medals would have been outstanding, but all of us at Falcon had set our sights on creating outstanding performances across the board, and – wow, wow, wow – we won 10 Gold medals, 1 Sliver & 1 Bronze – to say we dominated the Region would be an understatement. Falcon won 60% of all the gold medals available!

Falcon’s 2023 East Regional Team of champions – please stand and take a bow – your coaches are in awe of your achievement and wish you all the best for the Finals in May. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our amazing parents, your continual support in running the gymnasts around to training and attendance at the competition didn’t go unnoticed – Thank you!

At this point, I would also like to thank the coaching staff at Falcon for their continued help and support in getting the gymnast ready for this major event, and in particular Hannah our choreographer who builds and directs some of the most beautiful routines, as often the limelight is shone on the technical skills. Having said that, I must, on behalf of all of us at Falcon, thank Sue our MD for her belief in us all and her constant encouragement and cheery smile that drives us to the next level – Thank you Sue!

It takes many years and lots of hard work to gain entry to Falcon’s competition squad, but every single one of our elite gymnasts have started the journey from recreational gymnastics classes – my advice if you’re thinking about becoming a National Champions in Gymnastics and even an International, then join Falcon’s General Club and take your first steps toward your dream.
