Wow! What an unbelievable day for Falcon Gymnastics Club. I travelled down to Southampton with one of the mums whose son came second at the Eastern Regional prelims at Grade 4 Mixed pairs back in March. It was her birthday, and I asked her what her son was getting her – they both said together, “a gold medal later todayâ€. We laughed and carried on.Â
Both gymnasts, Carl, our Competition Director, and Falcon didn’t let her down! The competition was tough, with many of the major national clubs in contention. The atmosphere was tense, but after one of their best performances, I’m so proud to announce that they are now the Grade 4 Mixed Pair Gold place champions for the National Inter-Regional event 2023. Simply outstanding, and what a lovely birthday present for our gymnast’s Mum.Â
Onwards and upwards is what Carl always talks about – National Finals on 13th & 14th May at Stoke-on-Trent is the biggest National competition of the year, and this year, Falcon will be attending-on-mass with 10 partnerships, the biggest entry we have ever had. Our Strategy last year was to develop a team of gymnasts & coaches who would initially dominate our Eastern Region – Tick, and then go onto winning at National championships – Watch this space.
Good luck to everyone who is competing in May, I will be there to cheer you all on along with your parents – no pressure but winning would be nice!
